Dealer's Choice Show, WVBR-FM Ithaca, NY

Tribute show to the great Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson of Canned Heat, died Sept. 3 1970. A committed environmentalist & generally all around decent human being, he had a gentle voice for a "blues" singer and sounded like what the offspring of Skip James and Kermit The Frog woulda sounded like (in the best possible way). He was also a fantastic guitarist and one of the few white guys who recorded with John Lee Hooker & Son House and had the sense not to get in their way. I only played songs that Owl either sang lead on or played guitar on 'cause I've always detested Bob "Bear" Hite's singing and record collecting habits.
